With a history dedicated, for four generations, to the love of Syrah and the art of blending terroirs, 1920 –grand Vin de Crozes-Hermitage pays tribute to the winemaker Louis Pasquion who bought, this year- there, his first plots. His great-grandson, Gilles Robin, now puts all his passion into this noble grape variety that is Syrah to vinify and mature one of the greatest wines of the Rhône Valley . 1920 is the culmination of a passion combining historical know-how with a great vintage.
The 1920 cuvée is created solely from a Syrah grape variety . Harvested manually but partially de-stemmed (60%). Berries are also selected on an optical sorting table. The juice is extracted by pumping over and pigeage. We vinify for 40 days . Then the wine is aged for 18 months in demi-muids .
“The 1920 cuvée recalls the date of creation of the Domaine by Louis Pasquion, my great-grandfather. This prestigious cuvée makes history. Resulting from a parcel selection planted in 1956, this cuvée produced only during the great vintages, sublimates the expression of Syrah. When I make this cuvée, I am committing myself to the very high quality of the wine. So I pay great attention to these grapes and then to this wine which sublimates and shows all the possible potential of Syrah on the terroirs of the Crozes Hermitage appellation. This bottle, sold in limited quantities, will satisfy all wine lovers. »
